Huawei Ascend Mate S Vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Vs HTC One M9: Which one to buy!

With a plethora of new smartphones making their appearance at the IFA 2015, we need to take a moment and consider which of those new released deserves to be titled as the best one. And considering that we all know more or less which ones are worthy enough to claim that title, here is a faceoff between Huawei’s new flagship phone the Ascend Mate S, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and HTC’s One M9.

When comparing smartphones three things are important and must be kept in mind: The general specs and unique features that each phone offers, the operating system and of course, the style.

Starting with the general specs and features, pointing at only one winner, can get tricky.

Display

All three of them have large screens, with the Mate S boasting the biggest one with 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, shame as the HTC One M9, with a 5-inch screen. On the other hand the Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch screen and a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels which is the highest one.

Processor

As for the processor, the One M9 rocks a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57, the S6 an Exynos 7420 Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 and the Mate S a HiSilicon Kirin 935 Quad-core 2.2 GHz & quad-core 1.5 GHz.

Given that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 has been reported for having some overheating issues, the best processor to go with would probably be the Exynos of the Galaxy S6, since it instils more trust and enhanced experience than the HiSilicon Kirin – though that is mostly subjective.

Camera

When it comes to the camera, the One M9 scores a point for having a 20 MP back camera which is four megapixels more that the S6 and 7MPs more than the Mate S. Most of the remaining features are similar to all three competitors such as the 3GB RAM.

Software

The operating system is also similar between those three devices -Android Lollipop 5.1.1- but there are some slight differences to the individual features built in each smartphone. For instance, according to users’ reviews, the TouchWiz UI is statistically more preferable than the Mate S’s Emotion UI and the One M9’s HTC Sense UI.

In addition to the above, the Galaxy S6 features a few extra services and apps that give it the lead, such as OneDrive, the Smart Stay and the Samsung Pay, which allows the user to complete money transfers through his smartphone. Those features are enough to overcome the Force Touch, a feature available only on the Mate S that allows the user to do different things with the screen depending on the pressure applied each time.

Design

Then we’ve got the style, an area that is considered subjective. But at the same time, we all know what’s more attractive and what is not. The S6 has followed the designing guidelines of its ancestors as well as the One M9, which has a beautiful design but not fresh enough. The Mate S on the other hand comes with a beautiful and classy design that inspires admiration.
