CHICAGO, IL- Motorola Inc. (NASDAQ: MSI) The Lenovo-owned company revealed the list of its smartphones that will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
After much anticipation, Google has decided to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update next week. The software will be making its initial debut in the Nexus devices, Google’s very own smartphone line-up. Hence, the first handsets that will be rocking Android 6.0 are the recently announced LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P phablet.

With that aside, Motorola unveiled a list showcasing which of its devices will be eligible for the 6.0 update. Kudos to Motorola for being upfront with the specific matter, unlike the rest which usually leave customers under the dark.
These are the smartphones that will be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow:
- 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)
- 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)
- 2015 Moto X Play
- 2015 Moto G (3rd gen)
- 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)
- 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen)
- 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen)
- DROID Turbo
- 2014 Moto MAXX
- 2014 Moto Turbo
Another Motorola manufactured smartphone that was subtly aforementioned, is the Nexus 6, which like the rest of the Nexus devices, will be the first to run on Android 6.0.
Moreover, it is really unfortunate that the company did not include the two-month old 2nd-gen Moto E, a low-range but nifty smartphone. The time frame in which the above devices will get the update will be issued by Motorola in the weeks to come.
In the respective post the Lenovo-owned company says that it will discontinue services that have been integrated by Google in the Android 6.0 – they are practically useless now.
Moto Assist, Motorola Migrate and the Google Chrome extension found in Motorola Connect will be essentially gone. In addition, removing such apps from the software reduces bloatware and allows users to make the most out of their devices’ speed, hence the apps won’t be missed.
