Facebook Messenger for iOS enable 3D Touch feature on iPhone 6s

Facebook has updated its mobile messenger app for iOS with extended 3D touch support, which enables you to peek and pop from within the app using iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Introduced as part of version 79.0, the upgraded 3D Touch support enables you to not only view a quick preview but also access vital information such as contacts, conversations, photos, videos, stickers, links, and locations.

While the peek functionality enables you to view a tiny preview of the content by pressing firmly on the display, the Pop feature throws open the entire content onto the screen. You will be able to experience Pop function by firmly pressing on the screen.

After installation of the update, if you hard tap on the Messenger icon, you will be able to quickly navigate to read messages and compose postings on the wall via Messenger. You need to access 3D touch shortcuts by tapping on the desired app icon for messages and conversations located on the home screen. Furthermore, you will be able to directly jump to the new message screen to select contacts and compose new messages.

With the new Facebook Messenger app, you will be able to tap into the required conversation to Peek into them. Moreover, if the selected message is pressed hard, you will be able to view the full conversation. In September 2015, Apple announced the integration of 3D Touch feature, which will be compatible with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Even though Apple was optimistic about the effectiveness of 3D touch support, there was no significant progress made by app developers. We have seen the launch of plenty of new apps with support for 3D touch capability but the adoption rate was comparatively low.

Recently, Facebook announced that the company is currently testing a new feature named secret conversation, which makes use of end-to-end encryption.
