CUPERTINO, CA- Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: APPL) Apple seems to be aiming in making Siri a more important feature of its new operating system.

The biggest proof of the above statement is the company’s new iOS 9.1 beta version, that was launched this Thursday, where Siri can be set to respond only to the owner’s voice when he says “Hey Siri”.

Of course this is not a sudden change out of nowhere. More like a gradual evolution that moves slow but efficiently.

The “Hey Siri” feature was added to Apple’s personal assistant skill set, with the iOS 8, and it allowed her to be initiated with voice commands, without the user having to touch the phone, when it was plugged into a power source.

And when iOS 9 came along, a new voice recognition feature was added thanks to which, the user can actually train Siri to respond to commands given only by the user’s voice.

Activating this feature is a piece of cake. Just got to your Settings > General > Siri > “Allow Hey Siri”. After that, all you have to do is say out loud a few commands so that Siri learns to recognize your voice only and you’re practically good to go.

In an effort to stay in the competition and not lose its ground, Siri will now also answer to a variety of contextual question, something that Google’s and Microsoft’s assistants have been doing for a long time now.

And on top of that, Apple supports that Siri will be providing “proactive assistance”, which means it will adapt to the user’s daily schedule and try to predict any information or notifications that the user may need without him having to ask.

Moreover,  the best of all the above is that the American colossal company has also opened up a new Search API, so that individual developers can create third party apps that will collaborate with Siri’s services.
