The famous company to develop the popular browser Firefox, Mozilla has declared that it will stop its support for older versions of Windows OS starting next September. The company mentioned in a blog that starting from March 2017, Windows Vista and Windows XP will be automatically shifted to Firefox Extended Support Release—Firefox ESR.
Does this mean the end of services by Mozilla Firefox for these platforms? The answer is NO. The firm has stated in its blog that it will maintain to give security features and updates for Firefox working and operating on Windows Vista and Windows XP till the next September. This means, September 2017 will be last date to end this all.
The company claimed that users who are using these two Windows OS do not need to take any additional steps to gain security upgrades. The firm is planning to count and assess the number of Windows Vista and Windows XP users in June 2017. It will then declare the fixed and final date of the end of support.
On the other hand, simultaneously, Mozilla has requested the users to use a new and latest OS for their use. The company also mentioned that the old versions are prone to security attacks and loopholes.
