Android 6.0 Marshmallow update coming to LG G3 smartphone

New leaked documents that have surfaced online suggest that the much-anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the LG G3 is finally on its way to release ahead of Christmas.

LG’s former flagship, released back in 2014, has been waiting to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for months now.

Rumors intensified during November, when a source from Poland suggested that we would see the software making its appearance sometime between December 16 and 18.

Not any official responses have been issued from the South Korean giant since then, hence we took the particular report with a grain of salt, though a new leaked document from LG’s developer website allegedly proves that the Polish source was indeed quite accurate.

The document points out that the international version of the LG G3 – codenamed D855 – is all set to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, while assumingly being the first variant to be eligible to it.

US counterparts’ update release date could be delayed though, depending on their carrier and region. Note that LG D850 is for AT&T, LG D851 for T-Mobile and LG D852 for Canada.

LG’s 2014 smartphone might be one-year-old by now, though it can still live up to the hype, as it is offering sleek design aesthetics and a powerful spec sheet for a rather affordable price tag.

In addition to pricing, it is expected that the G3 could receive a Christmas price drop as big as $150 off, costing around $200 unlocked- which is certainly a bargain.

More specifically, the LG G3 sports a 5.5-inch True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen, running on a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (~538 ppi pixel density), covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, for ultimate scratch and shutter-proof protection.

Underneath the hood, the device is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip, coupled with Adreno 330 GPU.

It comes in two versions, the 16GB one with 2GB of RAM and the 32GB one with 3GB of memory. Both are expandable via microSD card up to 128 gigs.
