Samsung is expected to launch the Gear S2 successor at the IFA this year. The brand new Gear S3 is will reportedly be launched between 2nd September to 7th September at this year’s IFA.
The next generation smartwatch from Samsung is rumored to sport a rotary bezel similar to its predecessor. This indicates that the Gear S3 will also feature a similar circular-shaped dial. Previously, Samsung was known to announce new devices in the Galaxy Note series at the IFA. This time, the Note 7 is scheduled to launch on 2nd August. So, Samsung might make the Gear S3 smartwatch their main attraction at the Berlin event.
The Gear S3 is presumed to run Tizen OS similar to the Gear S2. The latter was announced the previous year in the month of August and went on sale a month later. The Samsung Gear S2 comes with a stainless steel construction. It boasts IP68 certification which means that the smartwatch is pretty durable from both dust and water.
Samsung Gear S3 Release Date and Specs
The Gear S2 sports a 1.2 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. The display has a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels resulting in approximately 302 pixels per inch density. A Gorilla Glass 3 sits on top of the screen.
The smartwatch is powered by the dual-core Exynos 3250 processor. The processor has two 32-bit Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1 GHz each. A dual core Mali-400MP2 GPU renders the graphics. The Samsung Gear S2 comes with 512 MB RAM combined with 4 GB of inbuilt memory capacity. The watch runs Samsung’s Tizen-based operating system custom made for wearables.
A fully functional loudspeaker is present in the Gear S2 along with a vibration motor. The smartwatch comes with 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC. The cellular model also has inbuilt GPS with A-GPS. The usual accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer are also present in the watch along with a heart rate sensor. The Galaxy Gear S2 comes with a rated battery life of 48 hours. Wireless charging is also supported.
Apple is also speculated to launch the launch the Apple Watch 2 within the end of this year. The upcoming Apple Watch is presumed to feature standalone cellular capability along with independent GPS chip. Considering all this, we are quite sure that the smartwatch market will soon get hot with new products.
