Nvidia has announced the launch of Nvidia Titan X graphic card, which is capable of shattering all records at $1200. Powered by a new variant of Nvidia’s revolutionary 16nm Pascal architecture, the new Titan X, available from August 2, is capable of delivering much better results when compared with the GeForce GTX 1080.
The GeForce GTX 1080, meanwhile, had delivered a massive 70 percent improvement in performance than the GTX 980 and a roughly 30 percent improvement over the previous version of Titan X.
Nvidia Titan X Specs
While the newly announced Titan X is equipped with 12GB GDDR5X memory, the GTX 1080 available at $600 offers 2560 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR5X memory. On the specifications front, the Titan X features 3584 CUDA cores, 10Gbps memory speed, 384-bit memory speed in addition to 480 GB/sec memory bandwidth.
Packed with 12 billion transistors, the new Titan X is the biggest graphics card ever built by NVidia. With a clock speed of 1531MHz, the Titan X runs at a higher speed than the original Titan X, which runs at 1075MHz. However, the clock speed of Titan X is lower than the GTX 1080, which runs at 1733MHz.
According to Nvidia, the new Titan X ships with 11 teraflops of FP32 (single precision floating point) performance and up to 60 percent improved performance than the previous generation of Titan X. However, this revelation should not be believed blindly since the company hasn’t disclosed the name of games or application which offers so-called 60 percent enhanced performance.
Based on the available specifications, the new Titan X will be the first ever graphics card to ship with high-quality 60 frames per second at 4K resolution without any need for a multi-GPU configuration setup. With just one graphics card, you will be able to experience high-quality performance with latest technological innovations even though the new Titan X provide support for Nvidia’s redesigned SLI HB bridge.
Revealed during an artificial intelligence meetup in San Francisco, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced the arrival of new Titan X after a presentation by Baidu chief scientist Andrew Ng.
