Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 budget Android tablet released in India for Rs. 5,499

INDIA- Lenovo Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: LNVGY) The Chinese tech giant has just announced its affordable Tab 2 A7-20 Android tablet for India priced at Rs. 5,499.

Lenovo shows for yet another time its interest in the emerging consumer electronics market of India, by unveiling the Tab 2 A7-20 tablet.

The Tab 2 is a rather affordable device powered by Google’s Android mobile operating system, version 4.4 KitKat. The company itself mentioned that the tablet is eligible for the Lolipop 5.0 upgrade, without pointing out any specific date just yet, though there is no potential for a 6.0 Marshmallow update in the future.

The tablet is priced at Rs. 5,499 (approximately US$85), making it available for a wide range of consumers and budgets.

Despite the low price, the Tab 2 has a good looking spec sheet, featuring a 7-inch IPS display running on a pixel resolution of 1024×600. Underneath the hood, the tablet is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The internal storage is 8 gigs, expandable via microSD card up to 32GB.

Camera wise, the tablet packs a 2-megapixel primary shooter with LED flash, while a 0.3-megapixel secondary camera has been placed on the front. Unfortunately, the Tab 2 is a WiFi-only tablet, which means that it does not support any kind of SIM card – so no 4G, 3G and alike.

Moreover, the device houses USB OTG, and Micro-USB connectivity options. To run the juice, Lenovo included a 3450mAh battery, which is sufficient enough to keep the Tab 2 going for plenty of usage.

In case data is an essential feature for you, then we’d suggest you opting for other members of the Tab 2 line-up, either the Tab 2 A7-30 at Rs. 8,500 for the 2G variant, or Rs. 11,800 for the 3G version.

The company has not revealed a specific release date yet, though it is expected to circulate in the next few weeks. If you cannot wait for the device to hit the shelves, then you can pick it up from e-commerce website Snapdeal, for the discounted price tag of Rs. 4,999.
