BlackBerry Neon Android smartphone official image, specs leaked

BlackBerry is expected to release a brand new Android smartphone soon. The mid-range handset, named as BlackBerry Neon is presumed to be released next month. The Neon is anticipated to be priced around $350.

The BlackBerry Priv was the company’s first fully android device. It was launched in November last year. The phone came with flagship grade specs but did not succeed very much. The upcoming BlackBerry Neon is essentially a mid-range offering with mediocre specs. The official render of the smartphone has been leaked. The device is codenamed as dtek50. According to trusted sources, the device is a rebranded Alcatel Idol 4.

BlackBerry Neon Specs: Snapdragon 617, 16 GB storage

The BlackBerry Neon will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080P display. It will be an LTPS (Low-temperature polycrystalline silicon) IPS LCD capacitive screen. The pixel density of the screen will be approximately 424 pixels per inch. The multi-touch screen will support up to ten fingers at a time. The display shall cover about 70 percent of the total front surface area of the smartphone.

The device will be powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (MSM8952). There are four high-performance ARM Cortex A53 cores each running at 1.7 GHz. The other four power-saving ARM Cortex A53 cores are clocked at 1.2 GHz each. The Adreno 405 GPU handles the graphics department. The operating system of the upcoming phone is presumed to be Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The BlackBerry Neon should come with 3 GB of RAM. It will be combined with 16 GB of built-in storage space. MicroSD card up to 256 GB shall be supported via the second SIM card slot.

The phone will come with a 13 Mega Pixels front camera. The aperture size of the camera will be f/2.0. There shall be PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) along with dual tone twin LED flash. The camera will support face detection, HDR, touch focus, panorama, and geo-tagging. The front shooter will be an 8 Mega Pixels unit with LED flash. Both the cameras shall support full HD video recording at 30 fps.

The Neon would measure 147 x 72.5 x 7.1 mm and weigh about 135 grams. The phone will support dual SIM cards with dual standby. The SIM slots will only take in NANO SIM cards. The handset will feature high-quality stereo speakers.

There will be a host of connectivity options including Dual band 5 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2 with LE and A2DP, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio with RDS and even NFC. The handset will come with a traditional microUSB 2.0 port. A 2610mAH Lithium-ion battery shall juice up the BlackBerry Neon.
