It is almost certain that the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will launch on September 16 this year. This is confirmed by trusted leaker Evan Blass popularly known as @evleaks. He said on Twitter that the brand new iPhones will be available for retail sale on September 16 that is Friday.

Although Apple has not yet confirmed this, the authenticity of Evan Blass can’t be ignored as he has been pretty consistent and reliable in providing these kinds of leaks. The Cupertino giant is expected to unveil the upcoming iPhones on Monday, September 12. The present iPhone 6S was released on September 25 last year. The previous generation iPhone 6 also released in September of 2014 on the 9th day of the month.

We know a lot about the forthcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus or Pro from several leaks and rumours. The upcoming iPhones will almost certainly ditch the traditional 3.5 mm headphone port. Instead the lightning port will be used as a headphone port to connect compatible headphones. We have also seen the new Apple EarPods with lightning connector. Lighting port to 3.5 mm audio port converters have also surfaced online.

The new iPhone 7 is presumed to come with huge improvements in the camera department. We have seen that the camera module of the forthcoming device has grown in size and thickness. The iPhone 7’s camera may feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), more Mega Pixels, larger aperture and more. The iPhone 7 Plus or Pro is speculated to sport a dual camera setup with OIS. The dual camera is rumoured to facilitate 2X to 3X optical zooming capability. The larger iPhone is also rumoured to feature a smart connector.

Both the iPhones will come with redesigned antenna lines. The antenna lines pass along the edges of the smartphones instead of running horizontally as in the previous versions. The shape of the iPhones will remain the same as the current iPhone 6S.

The iPhone 7 will sport a 4.7-inch display and the iPhone 7 Plus or Pro will come with a 5.5-inch screen. The latest iPhones should be powered by the brand new A10 processors designed by Apple and manufactured by TSMC. The RAM is also presumed to be increased from 2 GB to 3 GB. From this year, Apple may stop selling the 16 GB variant of iPhones, instead the base variant will feature 32 GB of internal storage. A 256 GB iPhone is also expected. The newer iPhones will be much more water resistant and may even come with IPXX certification.
