Apple iPad Air 3 release date hints 9.7-inch display and A10 chipset

With the iPad Air being conspicuously missing from rumors streams so far, there has been growing concern world over if Apple will continue with the tablet series henceforth. More so when it has already launched the 9.7-inch iPad Pro device.

However, with this being the ground situation, there are many who believe there might still be a new iPad Air 3 that could get to see the light of day this October. Apple has traditionally been launching the iPad Air series in October, with the first coming on Oct. 22, 2013, followed by iPad Air 2 on Oct. 16, 2014. That was all that we have had so far with 2015 yielding no successor to the iPad Air 2.

However, that might not be the case this year given that Apple had just been offering some exciting discounts on its iPad Air 2 devices. This, in turn, is being seen as a move to clear existing stocks presumably to accommodate the replacement device. This does go in favor of those who opine that Apple will indeed launch the next iPad Air version this October, which again will be the last of the series.

Apple iPad Air 3 Specs: 9.7-inch display, A10 chipset

However, while that does hold water to some extent, there obviously is another group that is of the view that we might have already seen the last of the iPad Air series before the segment has been merged with the iPad Pro range. It has only been this March that Apple launched the iPad Pro which can be considered a scaled down version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. With it being just a few months old, a replacement to it is highly unlikely as well.

So with a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro seemingly unlikely to arrive this October while the 9.7-inch iPad range itself having undergone the Pro makeover, it will be interesting to see what Apple has to show off this October. Meanwhile, the company already is tipped to launch the heavily anticipated iPhone 7 this fall through that again has failed to evoke much of consumer interest on the back of rumors that there won’t be any new exciting feature in the iPhone 7.

Rumor mongers though believe the iPad Air 3, if at all it becomes a reality might feature a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 display, an A10 chipset along with even more enhanced A10 aluminum.
