Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Dates for every phone revealed

Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) The search giant has announced the release date for all the devices eligible to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is Google’s latest and long-anticipated operating system for smartphones and tablets. We all know its new exciting features and eagerly expect to see them in our own device since the company rolled out the new OS earlier this week. But, unfortunately, the update was available only to those who own a Nexus or Android One smartphone.

In the meantime, third-party manufacturers are already working hard to adapt the new operating system to their own Android smartphones.

Let’s check when each company will release the update for its handsets:

HTC

Surprisingly enough, HTC will circulate the update outside the US first. More specifically, the company’s flagship M9 series will be the first to update before the end of the year, while the HTC E9, E9+, One ME, One E8, One M8 EYE, Butterfly 3 and Desire 826 can expect their updates within the first two-quarters of 2016. But those who own an HTC mid-range device such as the Desire 820, things remain a bit unclear as the company has been slow to roll out even the older Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

LG

Great news for all LG customers as the newest devices of the company, LG V10, LG G Flex 2, LG G3 and its current flagship, the LG G4, will see the update pretty soon. A clue that points to that conclusion is T-Mobile which expects the update in US this November.

Samsung

The Korean colossus will start with its elite devices, the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, Note 5, which will all receive the new update a few months after the official release. And with a bit of extra luck, the mid-range handsets will be next to follow.

Sony

Sony is the only one that has made an official announcement that mentions a vast variety of models that will receive the update, but there have no references on an exact date. Yet, some 10,000 lucky users have been able to get an early peek and test-drive the new software through Sony’s Concept for Android beta campaign. The list of handsets consists of: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia, Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C4.

Nexus

Obviously, all Nexus smartphones have gained access to Google’s new Android Marshmallow since last week. Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (only the 2013, Wi-Fi and LTE models), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player should already be in the process of updating by this time. As for the new Nexus 5X and 6P they come with the Android 6.0 preinstalled.
