Microsoft Surface Phone release date: Windows 10 phone to launch in Q1 2017

Microsoft is expected to release the flagship Surface Phone either by the end of this year or early January. Recently, Shubhan Chemburkar, an India-based software developer during his visit to Microsoft headquarters spotted placeholders for the upcoming Microsoft Surface devices in Building 88. He also captured the images on his camera and uploaded to Twitter, which caught attention among technology geeks.

The images consist of several Surface devices both docked and undocked and they will be released within the next few months. We also spotted few colored Surface Pens through an image posted on another popular  tech portal.

The images were portrayed in a wall, which houses Surface products such as Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Surface Book 2, Surface Pro 5 and the rumored AIO Surface desktop. Moreover, there are four empty spaces that have been captioned 2017 on them. This means those devices will be released in 2017.

Even though Microsoft hasn’t confirmed whether the Surface Phone is placed on the wall, there are reasons to be believed that Surface Phone could be released any time after December 2016. According to insiders, the company has included the Surface Phone on its upcoming roadmap. However, we only saw Surface tablets on the wall and unable to locate any Phone line device on it.

According to rumors, the Seattle-based software giant is expected to incorporate plenty of changes both in the form of features and specifications.

As per reports, Microsoft is planning to release three variants of the Surface Phone. The default model will have 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The intermediate level variant is expected to ship with 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The premium model will ship with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage.

Microsoft is planning to integrate Intel Kaby Lake processor into the upcoming Surface Phones in addition to Windows 10 Mobile with Continuum support.
