Acer Liquid Z530 and Liquid Z630s Android 5.1 Lollipop selfies smartphones released in India: Price, Specs and Availability details

INDIA- Acer Inc., (NASDAQ: ASIYF) The computer giant has just released its two latest mid-range additions to the Liquid family, the Liquid Z530 and Z630s, powered by Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop mobile operating system.

Acer took the stage on Thursday to launch yet another two handsets aimed for the developing Indian market, the Liquid Z530 and Z630s- originally launched during IFA 2015 in September.

The two handsets’ pricing and specifications sheet classify them under the mid-range category, though their front facing cameras definitely have the potential to come face-off with flagship smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and HTC’s One M9.

As aforementioned, the company’s marketing strategy with these two labels them as the ultimate selfie phones, hence they target consumers who ecstatically use the front facing camera while their budget is limited as well.

So without any further ado, let’s take a closer look at the price, specs and availability of the Acer Liquid Z530 and Z630s in India.

The Liquid Z530 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive multitouch touchscreen, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (~294 ppi pixel density). In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 144 x 70.3 x 8.9 mm (5.67 x 2.77 x 0.35 in) and weighs 145 g (5.11 oz).

Underneath the hood, the Z530 is powered by a Mediatek MT6735 processor housing four cores clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. The 16GB storage option comes with 1GB while the 32GB one with 2 gigs. Both installments’ storage is expandable via microSD card.

Camera wise, the primary sensor located on the front shoots at 8MP, featuring  3264 x 2448 pixel res, autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama. The secondary camera – the selfies one- shoots at a whopping 8MP as well. Both cameras record full HD 1080p video.

As far as connectivity goes, the Liquid Z530 is fitted with LTE antennas, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS with A-GPS, dual-SIM and microUSB v2.0.

Acer has included a Li-Ion 2420 mAh battery, which is a bit questionable in terms of performance, since the phone does feature a HD 5-inch display and quad-core chip.

The smartphone comes with Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box with a layer of Liquid UI placed upon it.

Moreover, when it comes to pricing and availability, the Z530 will set you back Rs 6,999 (roughly US$106) and is currently exclusive to Flipkart- the e-commerce website will make the device available for purchase from Thursday midnight.

The second handset launched by Acer is the Z630s, the bigger sibling of the Z530, featuring a more competitive spec sheet and priced a tad higher.

The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive multitouch touchscreen, running on a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (~267 ppi pixel density). Dimensions wise, the Z630s measures 156.3 x 77.5 x 8.9 mm (6.15 x 3.05 x 0.35 in) and weighs 165 g (5.82 oz).

Despite being a mid-range handset, the Z630s is remarkably powerful, as it is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 processor housing eight cores each clocked at 1.3GHz, clubbed with 3GB of RAM. There is only one storage variant, 32GB, expandable via microSD card too.

The Z630s shares the same camera tech with its smaller brother, the Z530, as both sensors shoot at 8MP, record full HD 1080p video and pack the same features.

In terms of connectivity, the Z630s is equipped with LTE antennas, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v2.0, USB On-The-Go and Dual SIM capability.

To accommodate the 5.5-inch HD display and the eight-core Mediatek chip, Acer has incorporated a humongous Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery, which should be fair enough for the particular spec sheet.

The smartphone comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop and Acer’s home brewed Liquid UI as well.

Acer has put a Rs. 10,999 (roughly US$167) price tag on the Z630s, while the device will be also exclusive to online retailer Flipkart. It will be available on November 12 for a flash sale, with registrations scheduled to open on Thursday.
