Futurama Android and iOS GAME COMING SOON?

Matt Groening’s sci-fi cartoon universe, Futurama, has been through a lot of turn arounds. Cancelled two times, and rescheduled one more, the world known sitcom will now be the basis for a mobile game, Futurama: Game of Drones.

More specifically, the title will be “a puzzle game in which players connect delivery robots together to win a “desperately imbalanced trade war” against similarly imbalanced corporate despot Mom,” reads The Verge.

The role of the developer will be given to Berlin-based Wooga Games, a company best known for its hidden object games creations and some simplistic, yet eye-catching titles on Bejeweled and Puzzle Bobble.

According to the press release, the game will be designed by Dave Grossman, who wrote Sam and Max, The Wolf Among Us, and Tales of Monkey Island. He will also work closely with former Futurama producer and writer, Patric Verrone, who wrote some of the series’ iconic episodes, including “The Problem with Popplers”.

At this point, it is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that we’ve been given the chance to interact with Futurama’s universe. In 2003, PS2, Xbox, and GameCube platforms got a game with the same title.

As far as the gameplay goes, Wooga’s press release says:

“The game, titled FUTURAMA: Game of Drones, takes players on a journey with the Planet Express crew as they fight a desperately imbalanced trade war against longtime shipping rival MomCo. While delivering dangerous cargo to hazardous locations under ill-advised circumstances, players connect groups of delivery drones to solve an array of fiendish puzzles as they venture into iconic environments from the FUTURAMA universe.”

No release date has been disclosed yet according to most sources and news media, although the Play Store does have a game titled Futurama: Game of Drones, made by Wooga, available for download since November 20th. Could be a scam, or it could be a surprise.

In any case, stay tuned to read the latest updates on this and many other hot topics.
